About Dean |
I grew up in the small town of Green Lake, Wisconsin, attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where I earned a chemistry degree. I went on to study medicine at The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee earning an MD. After choosing to become a family practice physician, I completed a 3 year Family Practice Residency Program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, finishing in 1992.
After my training, I was a locum tenens physician for six years, which means I was hired for temporary placement assignments in areas of need. This gave me the opportunity to work in places I always wanted to visit. I worked in 13 different states, mostly in the Western U.S.. I also had the great fortune to work in Southeast Alaska, Molokai, Hawaii and rural Queensland, Australia. For two years I worked as an urgent care physician at Virginia Mason Medical Center on Bainbridge Island, WA. . Following that I participated in the formation of One Sky Medicine, an integrative care clinic. In 2002, I started a solo, collaborative practice within Seattle Healing Arts, an incredible integrative medical clinic. In June 2018 I moved my practice to Lake City Professional Center Suite 90, with a group of like-minded colleagues. I relish spending time with my family and friends sharing meals, conversation and laughter. My soul is refreshed when I am outside in the beauty of the natural world; hiking, fly fishing or sitting quietly in awe. |
